June 29: Open Mic
July 13th: Evening of Short Stories & 5th Birthday Celebration

As of July 14, 2015 Unboxed Voices will be going on a 3 year hiatus. This news comes at the tail end of news that Kat Almiranez, founder of UV, will be going to graduate school. However, UV is thrilled to be handing off its monthly events at Think Coffee to Billy Conahan!

Billy is master wordsmith, spitting rhymes that rattle the mind and jar the soul. His lyrics are prolific and beats contagious. He is a regular performer at UV’s monthly open mic and most recently rocked the house at UV’s 5th Annual Variety Show at Parkside Lounge.
We hope that all UV supporters will continue to attend the monthly events at Think Coffee! Lexy & Alanna will be electrifying the East Village, you don’t want to miss it!

Unboxed Voices Variety Show 2013

What is UV?

Having begun as a one-night short story event in July 2010, Unboxed Voices has since produced over 75 events: Evenings of Short Stories featuring 80 writers, Monologue Monday featuring two dozen monologue performers, which inspired Monologues with Kim & Jimmy, five annual Variety Shows featuring over a two dozen entertainers, and two Short Play Festivals featuring over 40 playwrights and 75 actors. We launched our website, Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube, Flickr and Instagram page. We have also published Unboxed Voices Anthology: Volume One, featuring writers from our first two years.

In our first three years we unfortunately have had to say our good-byes to Linger Cafe & Lounge as it closed it’s Brooklyn doors. Being the the birth place of our first ever Evening of Short Stories we are forever grateful to its owner Jessica Picardo for her support and enthusiasm. Many thanks to Chloe for our home at Bar 82 in the East Village for our 3rd year. As we enter our 5th year we are excited to have found a new home for our Evening of Short Stories and Open Mic Night at Think Coffee at 1 Bleecker Street in the East Village.

We thank you for the opportunity to working with you to tell your stories.
